a crowded cruise by
A Traveler from Townsend, MT
Sailing date: Nov 2007 Pros:
food was excellent, service fine
Cons:
too many ships docked at Nassau; drinks too pricey
The ship was clean and food was great. Not enough pools. I thot the drinks way overpriced: on being offered a fancy cocktail on boarding, which I thot was complimentary, I was charged $6.75.
Way too many people at Nassau with 6 ships docked at once and 3000 people per ship, all competing for inadequate processing lines, tours, ferries, beaches, shopping.

Nassau, Bahamas Too many ships docked at once, and too many people for inadequate processing at customs, access to ferries, shopping, beaches
Don't Miss: forget it

erika r. from miami, FL
Sailing date: Aug 2007 Pros:
everything
Cons:
nothing
the state room we had was a type "4b" room which was spacious. The bed was so comfortable I would purchase it along with the pillows if I could! the room was cleaned multiple times per day by very respectful and helpful staff. the ship was beautiful. there were many pools on many floors to choose from.

First time cruiser by
Brian W. from Kelowna, B.C. Canada
Sailing date: Jan 2007 Pros:
The weather was a great change from the cold winter in Canada. Key West was lots of fun as was Playa del Carmen and Miami. Five days on board was enough time for both of us. The food was good and the entertainment was excellent.
Cons:
It took us forever to figure out the layout of the ship. For a "Carnival" cruise (supposedly a party boat), we found there to be mostly older passengers on board. The personality of the cruise director was a bit much to take.
Nice clean boat with plenty of friendly staff from all over the world.
The accents were at times, very difficult to understand.
We were hoping for more of a party on board but the crowd was easily 45 years old and older, and was more conservative than we expected for a "Carnival Cruise".
Ship Quality We were very pleased with the ship overall.
Dining/Food The food quality was great overall.
Lots of staff at your beck and call at all times.
The second you appeared to need something, there was someone there.
Stateroom Quality Being a first timer, we have nothing to compare our room to, but we were completely satisfied.
Ship Staff Quality Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
Entertainment & Activities The activity department seemed to be lacking somewhat, but the night time shows were fantastic.
Actually, much better than we expected.

Calica, Mexico You must see Tulum. Don't go on the bus tour for $85 US when you can rent a small car at the dock for the whole day for $50 and Drive to Tulum and then all the way back to Playa del Carmen. ($13 in gas).
That way, you don't have to sit with 50 other tourists and be told when to do everything- including when and where to eat!
Don't Miss: Tulum for incredible beauty and pyramids, and Playa del Carmen for shopping.
Key West, Florida We loved Key West and would have loved to had been able to stay over one night.
Don't Miss: We simply walked around and shopped. Don't bother with going all the way to Margaritaville, It's just a resteraunt.

Detour to Calica/ Playa del Carmen by
Alaskans from Anchorage, Alaska
Sailing date: May 2006 Pros:
cruise staff, food
Cons:
expensive alcohol
Getting checked in and on the boat was easy, it just required you flashing your passport every 5 seconds. Once on the boat, it was awesome! The rooms are small; but clean, and the entire staff was really nice and helpful. The food was amazing and the waitstaff and maitre'd were great. The decks were always clean, as was our room, and there were always nice little surprises left in the room for you (I won't spoil it!). We were meant to go to Cozumel after Key West; but for some reason we were diverted to Calica--but it was really great. The locals were nice and our excursion went beyond perfectly--A+!!! The only problem I had was how expensive alcohol was from the bars; but that was to be expected.
